In this Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network workshop, learn the basics of water bath canning and how to safely preserve high-acid foods such as jams, jellies, pickles, and certain fruits. Key topics include:-Understanding acidity levels and safe canning practices-Preparing jars and basic canning equipment-Proper sterilization methods-Processing times and temperatures for high?acid foods-Troubleshooting common issues-How to check whether jars have sealed properlyYou?ll get hands?on practice with water bath canning and leave with the confidence to make your own preserved foods at home. We’ll have a community seed library present – pick up free seeds for your garden, or swap or donate seeds. Free for Seniors (50 and over; $10 materials fee only). Part of our 10th Annual Westside Food Festival (May 19-July 11).
