In this Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with Carly Hilbert, learn the art of lacto-fermentation with our sauerkraut workshop. Discover how to create delicious, probiotic-rich sauerkraut using simple equipment and minimal ingredients. Topics covered include:- Selecting the right cabbage varieties- Proper shredding and salting techniques- Creating the ideal fermentation environment- Monitoring fermentation progress- Storing and enjoying your homemade sauerkraut- Basic canning methods for extending shelf-life Take home your freshly fermented sauerkraut and gain the skills to make this nutritious condiment at home. We’ll have a community seed library present – pick up some free seeds for your garden, swap or donate seeds. Free for Seniors (65 and over; $5 materials fee only).
