If you would like to be involved in your community and contribute to the Kitsilano Community Centre, consider joining the Board of Directors as a volunteer Board member. Board members believe in the importance of neighbourhood-based community centres and have a desire to work in a team to develop and foster community engagement throughout the Kitsilano community.
The Kitsilano War Memorial Community Centre Association Board of Directors jointly operates the Kitsilano Community Centre with the Vancouver Park Board under the Joint Operating Agreement. The main responsibility of Directors is to work with the Park Board staff to provide direct input into the selection of programming offered at the Centre. Programming must respond to the needs of our community, and our job as Directors is to identify and respond to those needs.
Other responsibilities of the Board include approving an annual budget, developing policies and strategic direction, monitoring financial assets, making decisions on membership issues, and strengthening personal and business relationships with the community.
Community members are welcome to volunteer as committee members, or they can be elected to the Board at the Annual General Meeting in April, or during the year as space permits.
