Introduction to Taiji (Tai Chi)
July-4 to August-15, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Tai Chi (Taijiquan) is a meditative movement art with many layers. On one level, it is a martial art that uses the soft to defeat the hard. It is generally practiced very slowly, to cultivate awareness and precision. On another level it is a gentle form of exercise that explores the role of intention in the movement of Qi (energy) in the body. The flow of Qi through the meridians benefits the internal organs, the joints, and general well-being. On another level, it is an exploration of stillness and movement, the unity of inner and outer, and aims to express spiritual truth. In this course, we will make a start on a study of the simplified Yang Style 24 Form. Drop-in $15, space permitting.
