Red Cross Babysitting Course (11-16yrs)

This course offers basic first aid and caregiving skills for youth 11-16 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families. Each participant will need to bring a nut free lunch and snack, and a doll or teddy bear for practice!

Quick Pickles

In this Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with Amy Weeks, participants will learn the basics of making a quick pickle in a mason jar, along with tips and tricks to ensure your pickles turn out crisp and delicious. This workshop is ideal for spaces without access to a stove or full kitchen. Each participant will make a jar of pickles to take home. We’ll have a community seed library present, pick up some free seeds for your garden, swap or donate seeds. Fee includes cost of all materials. Free for Seniors (65 and over; $6 materials fee only).

Drop off your clean, pre-sorted plastics at our free recycling depot Categories accepted: 1. Soft Plastics (i.e. any plastic bags, wraps, or packaging) 2. Hard Plastics (i.e.any hard plastics #1 thru #7, but w/metal parts etc. removed) 3. Styrofoam (white) 4. Styrofoam (other colours) 5. Foam Blocks (non-styrofoam) 6. Packing Foam Chips and Peanuts 7. Composite (foil paper/poly – e.g. packaging with paper label, and bubble wrap envelopes) 8. Bottle CapsPlease arrive no later than 6:45pm. No registration required. Free.
